Silk, ceramics and traditions along the Silk Road
11 days · 10 nights
Fergana Valley → Samarkand → Bukhara → Khiva
Silk, ceramics, paper, architecture
01
A journey linking the Fergana Valley with the great cities of the Silk Road. Silk, ceramics, architecture and everyday life become different chapters of the same itinerary.
Made in Uzbekistan is a themed private tour of 11 days and 10 nights. It starts in Tashkent, goes out to the Fergana Valley and back, then continues to Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, with the departure via Urgench.
The route does not separate the crafts from the cities. Silk and ceramics come first, in the Fergana Valley; handmade paper appears in Samarkand next to the Timurid monuments; Bukhara brings materials and workshops, Khiva wood and majolica. Everyday life runs through the whole journey, from bazaars and the Tashkent metro to the covered bazaars of Bukhara.
Silk. Ceramics. Paper. Architecture. Traditions still alive.
02
The valley is where the subject of the route is most concentrated. In a single day, three places each bring their own chapter.
Getting there is part of the experience too. The train to Andijan runs through mountain scenery, and the return to Tashkent in the evening goes via Kamchik Pass. A night in Fergana sits between the two.
Margilan — silk and ikat
Rishtan — ceramics
Kokand — the history of the Khanate
03
In the great cities, crafts stay beside the monuments. Samarkand first introduces the great Timurid period, then gives a day to paper and science: the Imam al-Bukhari Complex, the Meros paper workshop and Ulugbek Observatory — spirituality, craftsmanship and science in a single day.
Bukhara is read through different layers of the historic city, from the Ismail Samani Mausoleum to the Ark, and its craft chapter is about materials and workshops. In Khiva, inside Ichan Kala, the subject becomes wood and majolica.
04
Not every day is equally full. The first is for arriving and resting after the flight before beginning to discover the capital at an easy pace. Tashkent later gets a day of its own, moving between history, local life and contemporary architecture. The long road to Khiva, around 450 km, has a stop along the way and ends with rest, and inside Ichan Kala the afternoon remains free.
The same applies at an earlier stage: trains, visits and service availability are reconfirmed before booking. To prepare a quotation, four parameters are defined.
Rail schedules and the sequence of visits are reconfirmed before departure.
